While the management of lung cancer is fairly obvious requiring a treatment team and often combinations of treatment, most folks who have tumors which spread to the lung from other locations (bone sarcomas, colon cancer, head and neck cancer, kidney cancer … ) can improve their survival chances by surgically removing the metastatic tumors. While not every patient is a candidate for metastasectomy, whether or not there is benefit is dependent on the type of the original cancer, the number of metastatic tumors and whether just the lung or other organs are involved. If you have questions whether metastasectomy is appropriate for a specific cancer pattern, please contact our office at (214) 361-2300.
